Utai sarishi hana interview (3)

Concept?
Futoshi: Well, I guess you could say “Utai Sarishi Hana” is even more of a conclusion-like thing. But, the real conclusion (”Re:BIRTH”) is repeating a question asked by “BIRTH”. After all, yesterday and today are the same as the pain which might come tomorrow, because I think that a thing called loving will just be more pain. And there is also a fear where we worry if if a thing called “important things exist” will result in the same pain. But, it’s impossible to not treat things importantly, and for that reason we have no choice but to love and treat things importantly, noticing those things. Because what we lose are very important things… You might say we should realize that before we lose them, but if we lose them and regret it, when we remember them, we’ll get used to it happening commonly. On the inside, we have no choice but to learn that. We wrote the song with those kind of feelings.
So in that meaning, there’s a thing called “continiously repeating”?
Futoshi: Yeah. Even in that repitition, people are still humans, so they are always changing… But a variety of things change. Learning so that you don’t repeat your old mistakes is a thing which everyone will surely always remember.
Still, I think there is a sensation in all the foundations of what Futoshi wrote in the lyrics. Important things will someday be lost, so for that reason we have to treat today importantly.
Futoshi: Yes, so I guess that’s what I decided as the theme. That approach was always changing. So, what can be said now was said in this album.
I see. But even so, this album has a lot of different kinds of songs lined up, and yet there are a lot of very “strong” songs.
Futoshi: Well, we don’t really know what’s strong…
mayuko: But we made sure each one was treated very importantly…
Futoshi: Still, it’s because we can’t see it from the outside. I think that everyone doesn’t really know this album that well yet (laughs).
TASSHI: Yeah, it hasn’t been long enough to know what kind of album this was.
Well, in everyones individual opinion, if you talk about what song is left over, what song is it?
mayuko: It is “Re:BIRTH” for me. It really is a good finishing song, but I think this song can do something really amazing… I like it. The feeling of the strings is beautiful, and I think we couldn’t feel the sound of the timpani until now. Also, even I can sing the melody and lyrics of the chorus (laughs).
TASSHI: For me, it’s Velonica. In one song, we make a lot of different feelings come out, when as before, although we could still express this song, it would take 2 or 3 songs to do it. I think we can summarize the variety of parts of such different feelings in one song now. The song made me think that we can do so many more types of songs now.
TASSHI: For me, it’s One. After we finished this album, I would always listen to this song. It really leaves an impression.
Why?
Futoshi: Because I like that song (laughs).
(Laughs). Isn’t this a “positive” song? The positive lyrics of are unusually frequent.
Futoshi: Ah… I’ve been able to make songs with warmth in them. I don’t know what that’s called, but while listening to it once it’s completed, my heart became clear. Not everything is done so fantastically, but I like the song.

Daisuke?
Daisuke: Well, for me, it’s Kono Hoshi Ni. The signficance that exists there is very deep, in this album, and in myself (laughs). But massigura is the same too.
This song is very fast, don’t you think?
Daisuke: Yes it is (laughs). In the life of my guitar, it’s never played so fast. Up until here, I felt like “I finished playing!” (?) (laughs). In the chorus, it’s really fast, but there’s a lot of music to play, so I feel really good listening to it. There’s something which you can really feel in it. I think that because it becomes a different world when I’m playing such a song live, it is also really fun.
OKP-STAR: For me, it’s STAY GOLD. Like I said a while ago, even there were a lot of strong songs on this album, this is the one where you can really feel its strength. It is something which really pierces you, the sound, the lyrics, and the song. With a simple arrangement and no interludes, the main theme of the intro guitar is repeated through the whole thing. However, you can feel the strength in that simplicity.
Yes. In this song, there is a part where you say “tori ga sora wo wataru you ni” and “kaze ga hana wo yurasu you ni”. That feels like it’s releated towhat appears at the end of “Utai Sarishi Hana”, the “nukeochita hana yo” and “utai satta hana yo” phrase. What does that mean to you personally?
mayuko: Honestly, I have no idea (laughs)
TASSHI: I don’t know the link
Futoshi: Me neither (laughs).
TASSHI: Wait, there isn’t a link? (laughs)
OKP-STAR: I like that part….
mayuko: I was correct? (laughs)
(Laughs) Even if that’s so, this song might really be the middle of the album.
OKP-STAR: Yes. I wanted to make this song a lot.
Well, having pieces of work that have been compilated by that many “strong” s0ngs, there was a message that was said word by word at the end.
mayuko: Yes. From the beginning, when we were self produced, we could do this then too, but I’ve learned there are still a bunch of things we can’t do. Of course, we tried as hard as we could, but it will be fun from here on still. Doing things like that, I think it would be great if we could get the people listening to think the music will be fun from here on.
Daisuke: Listening to this album, certainly I hope that people will come to lives. Also, when we preform live, we ourselves are having fun and hope that the same can happen with the people who come to watch us preform. So, we’re getting people to listen, and getting people to come to our lives, and I hope that we can enjoy they songs in the same room.
TASSHI: Up until now, to the people who listen to Aqua Timez, there has always been a variet of different feelings in songs. But I feel like we’ve made an album with a variety of stories. Still, even to the people who have only heard one song on the album or something, there are songs which echo in their hearts. If we can get these people to put that into feelings, then I hope they will listen to the rest of the songs (laughs).
OKP-STAR: Yeah, I want the people who haven’t listened yet to listen for just once. And I want them to come to lives.
Futoshi: I really think we are 5 adults. The meaning of that is that we continued to make this album as 5 people, and I think we even made it a declaration of our intentions. In the process of making it, we tried our bests, and when we went over it together, we all thought it was a valuable experience. Thus, we went over a lot of things. Now, in the significance of making such an album, I think it became an album which faces towards the future. Therefore, I think it has became an album which can get fans to listen to and have responsibility without hesitation. That is the same for people who haven’t listened yet. I think we’ve really came to want people to listen to the album. Thus, I think we can get people to listen and a lot of peopel to buy this album

ini lanjutannya, maaf saya masih belum ada waktu untuk translete artikel ini...

Well, was the song which is used as the title of this album, “Utai Sarishi Hana”, a good song to finish the album?
TASSHI: It’s a good way to end the album
Futoshi: The prototype of that song was a very prototype-like thing, because it was originally from a very far off time
What time is it from?
Futoshi: A long time ago… Before we debuted, we made the plans for this song.

What was the reason you made songs from that period in the end of your album work?
Futoshi: If you want to know that, ask OKP…
OKP-STAR: Well, “Utai Sarishi Hana” is from when I first met with Futoshi… About 2001.
Futoshi: From when we made a demo tape together, right?
OKP-STAR: Yes, yes.
Futoshi: From when we were still uses cassettes to record our demos…. (Laughs) It’s from the time where we would listen to the demos we made and say things like “This is great!”, and luckily, none of us chose to leave. (Laughs)
OKP-STAR: Yes, yes. (Laughs) We thought that nobody would ever join our band (laughs), but I’ve always liked this song. Although the arrangement was different from now, the feeling of the song has stayed the same. The chord progression has mostly not changed. I’ve always liked it since that time… And since nobody ever left our band, we figured that someday people would join.
Futoshi: People did decide to join, but only in their own way (laughs).
OKP-STAR: Is that so? (Laughs). But, in the song that included that, I think everyone wanted to include that in this “Utai Sarishi Hana”.
mayuko: Right.
OKP-STAR: We were all confident it would turn out great. So, once everyone had thought about their own parts, we finally reached this arrangement. Because everyone did their own parts, and I did too, when such details which were worked out, we finally reached this polished arrangement.
Hm?
mayuko: Well, listening to the arrangement that OKP made with this timing, eventually everyone agreed that we should make it like this. It became an arrangement where we could all do things in our own way.
OKP-STAR: I tried to arrange the song while imagining it as the last song of the album. Because, like “Shiroi Mori” which finished “Kaze wo Atsumete”, or “Boku no Basho ~Evergreen~” which finished “Dareka no Chijou E”, an image of something like the end of such an album was in everyone for one reason or another. We thought that for sure that this “Utai Sarishi Hana” would be used at the end of the album, so I tried to arrange it while imagining that. that’s how we made the song.

OKP-STAR: You can notice it sometimes (laughs).
Well, when you finished this song, regarding to this album, was it not a very important moment?
Futoshi: It was. When we finally finished this song, we finished the album as a result. It even became the title… We thought it was very good.
How did you decide on the album title?
Futoshi: We had a lot of ideas for the album title, but we figured this one would be the best. I think I sang what I should have for it, and we played the sound which we should have played on it. So, we chose the name of this song to be the name of the album without hesitation.
What do you mean by, “I sang what I should have sang on it”?
Futoshi: Still, what I consider to be important now, will someday not be important. But, that thing which won’t be important will probably be living without paying to much attention to the year. I think I’ve had a lot of chances to be taught such a thing. I think it’s a thing which will be taught to the people that aren’t here now. Despite that, even the value of what’s here we surely don’t know. But so, I think that place is the place where human’s foolishness’s are. But, because I only don’t know, and deciding our resolutions in our own foolish ways, now, it’s what I can sing. So, it’s a place where I can sing my own resolution. Still, as a person who is not there yet, it’s what I can do, because I am still here.
If I remember correctly, up until now Aqua Timez has been been making lyrics that feel like one compilation-like feeling that you sang, right?
Futoshi: Yes. At any rate, in this song we worked out the details. I think we wrote it with feelings that were better than usual. To be in the title of the album, such an important song had to be really good.
And, after that, you started and finished the album with songs called “BIRTH” and “Re:BIRTH”, right?
Futoshi: Yes, so eventually it didn’t really end up being the last song (laughs).
OKP-STAR: I too was thinking that, and I said it (laughs). It never did end up being the end.
Futoshi: And after that the album version of “Niji” was included. So, it ended up being the third song from the end (laughs).
(Laughs) . What kind of feelings did you put into “BIRTH” and “Re:BIRTH”?

Futoshi: We decided that we’d made this album by writing each song individually some time ago. But still, on the inside, our personalities wanted to make it flow… So, after working out the order of the songs that would be played, we sandwiched them together with “BIRTH” and “Re:BIRTH” at the beginning and end. A variety of meat and vegetables and whatever were the things which worked out the details. So, knowing the contents wouldn’t get squished together with such things, we wrote the for the album . Thus, I think that only there can you find the concept for this album.

Utai sarishi hana Review

Thara...album terbaru aqua timez yang paling keren (menrut saya), album ini rilis tepatnya taggal 11 maret 2009 lalu. Dan ini merupakan album penuh ketiga mulik Aqua Timez. Total album ini berisi 15 lagu. Dan seperti biasa di dalamnya masih terdapat beberapa lagu lama yang muncul dalam mini album mereka seperti niji, velonica, stay gold dll. Tapi secara keseluruhan album ini memang yang terbaik yang pernah dilahirkan Aqua Timez.

Album ini dimulai dengan lagu birth, saya gak tahu, apakah ini lagu atau hanya sekedar musik pengiring, tapi ini jelas pembuka yang bagus (7.00).

Track 2 adalah lagu velonica yang telah dijadikan ost. bleach opening 9, jadi siapa yang tahu lagu ini? Musiknya yang full ditambah bit lagu yang sangat cepat sama sekali tidak mengurangi rasa seni dari lagu ini.Keren (9.40)!!!

Selanjutnya adalah lagu "wakare no uta-still connected". Waktu ngeliat judulnya saya fikir ini adalah lagu yang agak lambat. Ternyata saya salah besar, meskipun judulnya adalah lagu perpisahan,ternyata lagu ini tidak begitu lambat malah tergolong tempo yang cepat walau tidak secepat velonica. Tapi tetap asik kok (9.30)!!

Lagu keempat adalah "niji". Lagu ini juga uda keluar bersama video klipnya pada pertengahan tahun lalu. Seperti yang kita tahu, lagu ini diunduh menjadi soundtrack J-Dorama GOKUSEN, dan memang lagu ini sangat cocok. Tapi ternyata lagu ini kalah bagus dengan kembarannya yang ada di album ini juga.Wkwkwkwk..(9.00)

Stay gold menjadi track kelima di album ini. Saya pernah membaca sebuah blog yang mengatakan bahwa lagu ini tidak jelak ataupun tidak bagus. Waktu itu saya sangat kesal, masa Aqua timez ngeluarin video klipnya kalo gak bagus? Dan bagi saya lagu ini sangat bagus (9.60).

Lalu "natsu no kakera" berada di track ke 6. Musiknya yang santai dan permainan piano yang cantik oleh mayuko benar2 menyempurnakan lagu ini (9.10).

Honto wa ne, ini termasuk 1 dari 3 lagu aqua timez yang saya tidak punya video klipnya. Tapi terlepas dari itu semua, lagu ini tetaplah layak untuk didengar (9.20).

Lagu yang cukup mengejutkan ketika saya mendengarnya. Di pertengahan lagu saya kira sudah selesai dan ternyata dari keheningan musiknya muncul lagi. Keren... (8.70)!!!!

Tsuki, noboru, entah sengaja atau tidak, tapi lagu ini terdengar sangat spanyol. Karena identik sekali dengan musik gitar spanyol. Saya suka (9.30)....!!!

Selanjutnya lagu "kono hoshi ni". Meskipun jarang mendengarnya,tapi lagu ini keren juga kok (8.60).

Dan masuk ke lagu yang paling bagus di album ini. Kirakira, judulnya sedikit terdengar aneh, tapi ternyata memendam musik dan irama yang keren. Sebagai info, Futoshi pernah lupa salah satu kalimat dari lagu ini waktu mengadaka"still connected tour 2009" (9.50)

Lalu, One..keren, agak lambat. Tempo seperti ini adalah model lagu Aqua Timez yang saya suka. Karena lebih mudah untuk menyanyikannya (9.30).

Utai sarishi hana, nama ini juga merupakan nama album ini. Meskipun intronya cukup lama, dan durasi yang lama juga, tapi lagu ini bagus sekali. Gak kalah deh ma lagu yang laen (9.00).

Lagu ini adalah lanjutan dari opening album ini, sangat soft n ringan (8.90)....

Niji album version..haha..lagu ini saya rasa sukses mengalahkan bagusnya lagu sebelumnya. Versi album ini sangat nyantai dan mendengarnya pun tidak akan membuat kita bosan (9.50).

Interview about Utai sarishi hana

Saya akhirnya mendapat info menarik tentang album terbaru mereka, interview ini dilakukan oleh coolcwer, ini dia hasil interviewnya :

Finally, you have finished your third full album, “Utai Sarishi Hana”. You wanted to try and work really hard on this album, right?
TASSHI: Yeah, we did. (Laughs)
Futoshi: We were still recording even in the beginning of this year.
mayuko: We began to think about it in about June of last year, and we began to record in July or so, didn’t we?
Well, after you released “Niji” last may, you started to record, right?
mayuko: We were doing the evergreen tour 2008… After it ended, we began to devote all our work to the album.
After that, you preformed in a busy summer, doing festivals and events, with a single being released at the same time. While while doing everything like that (releasing your single, doing lives, working on the album, all of this), you said you were going to make an album. Did it actually go as you planned?
Futoshi: Well… it’s like the result… (Laughs) But, I don’t know if doing everything like that is something that a wholesome band would do, because our music will probably also be like that from here on.
Well, if you think about it, before “Dareka no Chijoue” was released, you thought that way. But, I don’t know if things like postphing your tour that time had a variety of reasons for doing so….
Futoshi: Yeah, there wasn’t just one thing which led to that. Because, there is no time where we’re just working, things like lives go in the space between working

But people are asking when you made the songs (Laughs).
Futoshi: Yeah, in the middle of the night (Laughs). There isn’t really a time where we made them, but I think that there could have been because we wrung them out like that. (?) Anyway, if we make one song, we’ll start working on the next instead of listening to that song. I think that’s how we felt when we make the album.
When you try to make an album, you say things like “I want to make the next feel like this”, did you have such an image for this album?
Futoshi: We had no image for it. Without an image for the album, we were free to make only good songs. I guess we thought if we did things like that, it would make it a good album.I thought that making an album without a definite image would be better than restricting us from doing some things if we made a concept for the album. By doing it like that, I thought that our freedom to make music would definitely increase. Although, I don’t know if such freedom is a good thing, but there’s no mistake that we felt good about it.

When you made songs like that, what did it feel like you faced a song with another?
OKP-STAR: Regarding the bass, I think it’s better to play on a grand scale. I guess we don’t do things cleverly to that extent, but to some extent we play while making someone hold the blank space (?). For example, in things like lives, “Should we play in a different way?” Sometimes we like doing that. It’s a thing which is kind of incomplete, doing things like that reduced the sound we made, but is it good if the sound of 5 people sticks out? I wonder if there were many arrangements like that this time.
mayuko: When everyone contributes to the sound, until before, we might have chose what kind of arrangement to make, but we might reconsider it once more at home, and we reconsidered if that was really the best way to go many times. But, this time we did it with the rules of that time, and there were many uses of it and we thought on the inside that it was great. So, it’s not the feel of our house’s air, but the air of our studio’s rules we think appeared.
Daisuke: This time, the thing we changed about us the most was… Well, for example, when Futoshi writes songs and finishes a simple demo, when we listen to it, and think about why he wrote each part, perhaps everyone is thinking of how they can add on to it. But, on that occasion, even more than working on the song in our heads, when the song is decided on to a certain extent, wondering if we should meet, like if in a session together, we tried to treat our inspiration importantly. Therefore, like mayuko said, what I did with in a rush was great. If we play a different phrase than in the recording, then we still wonder if it was better in the original recording… But returning to the first way we played it is always good. Did we bring the music we made by ourselves together to put into one song? We treated things like songs that were born through that method very imporantly when we made this album. Iwonder if we did that alot when making this album.
Because you were never really the type of band that created songs through jam sessions, am I right?
Daisuke: Yeah, you are. I think there are two different types of bands. Neither way is particulary bad or good, but if people can make songs in sessions, they will write songs while practicing steadily. So, I guess I’m coming to think that either way is flexible. Only, while doing that, after you’re done the sound you made is deciding on and you can’t change it. Up until now, our way has taken over twice the amount of time (laughs). Once, after we decided on the sound, I wonder if working out the small details of the song has been more severe than before.
TASSHI: I’ve really noticed that we’ve been drawing out our power until the end in musical performances. Is it because our feelings are in the song? Spirit? They are performances where we put such things into them, but like before with our feelings getting excited, is our health getting a bit more solid? Therefore, would that make the sound that comes and goes as a consequence a bit more solid? I feel like the sound was getting a bit worse because we were drawing it out too much. So that this time could feel like something new, while doing lives at summer events and festivals and recording, we got ourselves to watch great dramas and a variety of artists. So, it’s natural, but when drawing out everyones power, we made some beautiful sound.

Futoshi: Well… I tried my best… (laughs)
(Laughs). Was there anything you did different until now?

Futoshi: When we record songs and such, there were 4 of us who could really listen to what was being played, so we could have peace of mind while recording. But, about that… I don’t think we really did our best on the lyrics.

For the time being, was it the thing that became distinct shape like “Niji”?
Mayuko: That’s what he 7th song “Honto wa Ne”, which we made before. The first one after that is… “Niji.” And the next is “Natsu no Kakera.”?
Daisuke: Yes, it is.
Mayuko: So, from there….
TASSHI: “Kirakira”, “Tsuki, Noboru”, I think? When we made those those… I felt like we had began to work from them.
Mayuko: Is that so…
TASSHI: You might say, beautifully hating intelligence(?), that they are all disconnected melodies in our songs, but… (laughs)… After that, the order of things for even me might not be in order, but…. Things like Velonica are already coming, right?
Doing things like that, a variety of songs will be formed… When the figure called an album finally could be seen, where were you?
TASSHI: When an album could be seen, we went with whatever kind of last way we saw in it. So, when “Utai Sarishi Hana” could be seen, after that, Futoshi made the intro and outro songs “BIRTH” and “Re:BIRTH.” So, when he made them, and finally got approval, this album could finally be seen and felt.
